Educational Fishing Game for Kids-Trunky Fishing

Simple games for kids are really becoming a staple for parents who own an iPhone or iPad. Let's face it if your kids are anything like mine it's almost impossible to keep them off of the iPad, so we might as well have some fun and educational apps on there to at least improve their little minds whilst they're having fun!
We've had pre-release access to a great little educational fishing app for kids. When we say fishing , we mean of the funfair type small pond variety.The educational app on iPad features Trunky, a cute little elephant who we've seen on other kids apps from developer UpsideDown Games. Trunky is cute but also educational featuring a variety of game modes in which the little elephant must catch fish according to their letters,;colours or numbers. Numerous features abound in the classic funfair type spinning pond based game including two player mode and five educational and fun game modes. It's very intuitive and easy to play. The version that I've played is in Danish with the English version and some other translations on the way in the near future.

The school year is winding down, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to put away your books. Exams, papers and projects are the buzz words as April slowly gives way to May and students start drinking coffee and staying up far too late in preparation for finals. Mobile application development has come a long way since IBM Simon, the first smartphone, was released in 1992 and there are tons of apps to get you through the final stretch.

Blackboard Mobile Learn is an offshoot of the popular Blackboard software used in high schools and colleges around the nation. It’s available for iOS and Android. Use it to complete any Blackboard assignments, watch videos, read syllabi and interact with your class on the go. You must have a Blackboard account through your college to use BlackBoard Mobile Learn, so check whether you’re eligible before you download.
gFlash+ is an app that lets you make flashcards and use them right on your phone. Forget about needing a partner or dealing with the papercuts that come from quickly rifling through a stack of index cards. Just add information to your phone and start flashing knowledge into your head. You can get it for iOS or Android.
No notebook? No problem. Install Evernote so you always have the ability to take notes in the palm of your hand. Most people don’t forget their phone when they leave the house, but how many times have you had to borrow a pen? Evernote is available on iOS and Android, but it can also work on your computer at home.
If you don’t feel like taking notes, try Share Your Board. The app takes a photo of a whiteboard in your classroom and changes it into a PDF file. Once you have it, you can send it to friends or use it for your own studies. The app is available for Android users.
There’s no reason to get a backache from lugging heavy books around when you have the Dictionary.com app. Combine it with an already-installed reader and you have a mobile library capable of delivering up facts at the click of a button or swipe of a touchscreen. The Dictionary.com app can save you from misspellings and misunderstandings in any classroom. It’s available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry.

As a bonus, download Angry Birds. It isn’t the most popular app in the world for no reason. Use it to take a break between classes or on the bus. There’s no harm in having a little fun; if anything, it’ll make you happier and more productive. You can get Angry Birds on any platform—even the new iPad with Retina display.

So don’t let your phone or tablet be a drain on your time or grades. Instead, use it to enhance your education. By downloading apps that make you more productive, you’ll get your work done sooner and be out with friends before you know it. Isn’t that better than sitting at your desk, flipping through a notebook and trying desperately to remember where you left the notes from math last week?

Vehic is a very easy to use motorists app, menus are very intuitive and most features are just a button press away. The car finding feature is also very handy. It's clearly better to use a driving app like Vehic to keep track of your car rather than archaic logbooks and repair cards. The design is quite basic , but bells and whistles aren't necessary on this type of app , as its goal of keeping a check on your vehicle is more than adequately achieved. Hopefully later versions will also include pop up reminders for when a vehicle is fue oil changes and such like. As an inexpensive fleet management app I could imagine Vehic being popular with owners and maintainers of medium sized vehicle fleets.

MicroHeroes Magic 8 Ball

Together for the First Time

What are Microheroes? In the case of MicroHeroes Magic 8 Ball, the microheroes include Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare, and Confucius. Previously these heroes were available separately, but now you can find all of them together in one app. This Android App introduces you to these historical figures and gives your some information about each of them. Each character gives you your answers in voices that you can easily imagine the person sounding like. You can disable the background music if you want. If you don't know or aren't sure who these famous guys are, you should try it out because these individuals played really important roles in history. This is an exciting new way to play with the classic Magic 8 Ball game, except it's with a historical figure instead of a number that gives you the answer, it's not an Eight Ball but a cell phone, and you don't even have to read the answers, plus you get extra advice from these wise men. Perhaps a wise woman will be added in future updates?

If you want to try out features before purchasing, as of now I recommend trying the FREE Microlite versions for each single character vs getting the free version of MicroHeroes Magic 8 Ball (with all the characters combined). This is because the single versions give you more tastes of the features available in the paid versions. Unfortunately, the Eight Ball feature is only available in the purchased editions.

There are 50 trivia questions (10 for Lite) about each of the characters. There is also a biography larger than a paragraph on that person. Refresh or make up for things you may have forgotten from your history courses. The user interface is smooth and legible. Not all the included features are educational, if that is something you are against for some reason. Children may also enjoy tickling the characters or watching them dance. With the FREE VERSIONS for a specified character, you get 5 out of 25 quotes from every hero. At the very least you should learn some of their quotes. The quotes may be both intellectual and helpful, especially in guessing who said those popular quotes the next time you hear them. Surely you have at least a thing or two to learn from a peaceful man that led a revolution, or the U.S. president during the American Civil War, or one of the greatest playwrights of all time. You can learn so much more from this Android application than you would from a "Magic" 8 Ball. There's even a daily video or daily advice that you may watch from YOUTUBE. If you do choose to download MicroHeroes Magic 8 Ball, congrats, Your Smartphone just got smarter. Most likely you will get smarter as a result too.

Weather apps are some of the best selling apps on Android. So much of our leisure time and planned activities hinge upon the weather that having a good weather app really can make the difference betweena good day out and a washout.

We are particularly fond of Weather Buddy at the moment as the developer has invested a lot of his personal effort into it. The app was conceived when the developer found himslef in a situation involving lots of travelling within Holland. With the climate of Europe prone to unexpected weather conditions he found the need to devise a good app that would not only accurately forecast rain , sunshine and other associated features. But also look good into the bargain and have a very Eurocentric flavour.

For a commuters app Weather Buddy is pure gold, simply type in a time you need to see the weather, whether it be your morning or evening commute and the commuter friendly weather app does its magic and show you the weather at both destinations. Never be caught shivering or wet again! The app is very simple to use, does a good job odf forecasting and is well porgrammed so that it doesn't run continually and drain your Android Batterys life but will only connect to the met station forecast servers at the scheduled times.

Defense Zone HD and other Tower Defense Games

What’s the Best Free “Defense” Game for Android? (Lite games included) There are plenty of defense games out there. Many of them don’t really differentiate themselves from others. This is a bad thing. Well, a review request was made for Defense Zone HD. To be honest I was doubtful at first if this game was worth reviewing. When I finally tried it along with the few free Defense games that I could find, I found out why the contact from wasn’t afraid to make the request. Defense Zone HD is one of the best looking free defense games I could find. The graphics are geared toward looking realistic as opposed to looking like cartoons. The menu, loading screen, and stages are heavily detailed and don't come off as cheap. The stages look like zoomed out overhead views of HD console shooter games. It reads touches fairly well. The rock sound effects and music are well developed. Gameplay animation is really smooth. The game shows you the area of reach of the unit if you were to deploy the unit at that location. I found this to be a very helpful feature that isn’t available on all tower defense games. You aren’t limited to placing your units on only a few spots on a small grid stage, although some places are strategically better to have units on than others of course. Available units that I’ve gotten to use so far are machine gun turrents, missile launchers and nitroglycerin spraying units (looks like a flamethrower that shoots out blue flames to slow the targets). These aren’t the official names of the units, just my guesses. You can upgrade each unit to double it's firepower. When upgrading, the changes in firepower and reach is displayed. You get a small break after each wave. Another neat feature this game has is you can click on the wave button if you're ready for the next wave before your break time is up. One very minor setback was that the app doesn’t tell you the strength of the units, but you can easily figure it out once you start playing. Sadly the free version only has 2 stages with 3 levels of difficulty and will most likely leave you wanting more levels. Those two levels are definitely enough to get a good feel of the game if you want to give it a try. The full version can be bought for $2.99 on GooglePlay. It's also available for iphones. This game is relatively new and definitely looks and plays like it.

Each background is detailed to look realistic.

Fruit Ninja is one of the most popular quick action slice and dice games on iPhone and Android.
