So Coupon is a Verb Now? An App to help you Coupon

For a little over a year now I've been hearing the word "coupon" be used as a verb and a noun. I guess it's short for couponing or searching for coupons to use? With the economies around the world in such a bad shape, no wonder it's becoming a bigger "trend". Even my Facebook News Feed has gotten some posts on how ladies have been saving from using coupons. Well there's an app to help you out with coupon. The Coupons App, appropriately named and living up to it. Save money on just about anything. Coupons even work at lots of big stores like :
-Restaurants, (Sushi, Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Red Lobster, Denny's, Baja Fresh, Olive Garden, White Castle, Applebees, Papa Johns, Mimi's Cafe, Baskin Robins, IHOP, Wingstop, Sonic Drive-In,)
-Clothing Stores Ambercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy, Macys, Victoria's Secret,Aeropostale, New York & Company, Sketchers,
-Home and Office Office Depot, Home Depot, Lowes, Bath & Body Works,
-Others Walmart and CVS Pharmacy, Chuck E. Cheese, TNT Fireworks, Michaels, Ace Hardware, Build-A-Bear, Regal Theatres, Sports Authority, Sears Outlet, AMF Bowling, Seaworld, Jiffy Lube, Redbox, Amazon, and more.

It's available for both iOS and Android OS.
Many consider The Coupon App a "Must Have". They have "Love" for it, "use it every week" because it saves them $.
I am a little embarrassed that I didn't know about this smartphone app sooner. Not feeling so smart. Oh well, time to save. The reviews for this app rates it really high. With an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars on Google Play from 80,000 user reviews and over 5 million downloads.

You don't have to cut out pieces of paper to save. Many of the coupons are displayed on your phone and the cashier could just scan it from there. You can use your smartphone and look cool while saving money like you have a secret hook up (to those who haven't yet discovered it). Coupons don't grow on trees, but they can be easily searched and accessed on your smartphone. Maybe save some of those trees as well, or use the coupons some other time or give them to someone unfortunate who doesn't have a smartphone.

Some Features integrated into the application
-Barcode scanner to compare prices
-Easily lets you SHARE great deals you think others in your social networks would be interested in.
-Daily Updates to make sure you don't miss out on fresh deals or steals(legally).
-Finding you cheap gas prices, go further for less.

You should definitely get this if you believe that every penny counts. If you can't get paid more, why not spend less for the same amount of things, or buy more items for the same amount of money? The app is FREE and is brought to you by Most Popular Download. The name of the developer may be a little overconfident, but who cares about that when you're saving Moolah?

Some UK users have reported that the app doesn't work for them. Sorry, but keep checking in every once in a while and see if this is fixed or updated for you in the future.

Another reason to not forget your phone when you leave the house.

How to get your App Noticed

Getting your app noticed in the demanding and cluttered markets is not easy. Especially if you're programming orientated and don't have the time, money or inclination to market your apps. I've been following many developer forum discussions recently to discuss getting your app noticed and I'm going to paraphrase one S. Weiss who has some good advice about making a standout app:
What Apps will get Noticed
Don't go for an app that has an ultra competitive market. There are bigger and more budgeted developers who you will find hard to compete against. "My buddy learned that lesson in the first 2 weeks of IOS having spent the last 6 months developing an IOS app called places, and got trounced trying to compete with all the other apps for finding restaurants etc. He was encouraged  to launch a smaller app which cost a lot less to make. Today he's one of the few who's been in a top 20 paid slot for such a prolonged time. Apple even bought the image rights to his app when it was on the billboards."

Social Hub: Handy Android Social Network Access App

Social Hub App
Nothing is more easy or convenient than accessing your social networks via your Android phone. Or is there an easier way?

Take One Android phone of your choice, add the Social Hub App on Google Play and the way you use your mobile to get onto your social networks will change forever.

It is easy to use all the major networks , such as Twitter; Facebook and LinkedIn on your Android phone. Indeed some of them even have dedicated apps to support them. But , if you're any kind of more than casual networker it is a big inconvenience to have to jump around through a multitude of apps to do your networking and status updating. Bradley St Clair's Social Hub app solves this by having all your social networks linked together in one handy all encompassing super networking app.

With all the password and access rights you'd expect to make the most of your business or personal connecting time, the app's creator is also very hands on and will happily update the app to include social networks of your choice. At the moment these social networks are supported by the app:

- Xing

Slugger: Kickstarter Game on the Edge of Glory

Project Slugger
Pretty Weird and Project Slugger:
"In this for the Long Haul"
Kickstarter games come and go, but Project Slugger is the pure gaming genius that gamers have been waiting for.

Born from the creative hearts and minds of some of the most passionate gamers we've seen to date, the Baltimore games project is looking to have massive potential, we'll be shocked and surprised if it doesn't reach it's funding on Kickstarter.

That's why we're publishing this article , to get you over to the startup friendly site and see what's got our little gaming fingers all jittery to get our hands on Slugger.

Game Designer featured in edge magazine
A. Bender :" Great enthusiasm for
making games"
The game's heritage shows the momentum and commitment behind the project. Born from The University of Baltimore's Annual Game Design Club Competition almost two years ago in the Fall of 2010, when lifelong game designer August Bender couldn't but help notice the creative brilliance of Scott Yerkey's competition entry game. This was the foundation  stage of "Pretty Weird" . Soon another creative powerhouse in the form of Jamere Johnson was on board.
Like anything great more of the gaming industries raw talent was soon knocking at Pretty Weirds door until they now have a team of 3 Artists, 3 Programmers, 3 Designers, and 2 Audio Engineers. This is a serious studio with drive; motivation and a solid conceptual game that is going to be something special.

Project Slugger itself
The game itself is set to take the form of a side and vertically scrolling videogame. Starring the Slugger of the title and potentially up to 15 playable characters; 10 minibosses and 10 bosses!
Depending upon funding the game could be huge, with 55 levels and 8 different World's planned. Being not only gamers but also businessmen, Pretty Weird knows what works, we're particularly enthusiastic about the fact that they are bringing something new to gaming.
A gaming world based on a Victorian Sewer?  That's the type of creativity that is going to make Slugger brilliant!
Pretty Weird Entertainment
Slugger is Born

Cited inspiration for Project Slugger ranges from Animated films to Table top games to Donkey Kong Country. The uniqueness of the game doesn't just extend to it's environment and inspiration though as tasty little quotes like "Gameplay will change and evolve your playing style in a visible way." and " Each level will have its own untiled background, and all animations will be hand drawn. Advanced color theory will be used in not only the game's art, but also its music, using synesthetic techniques to blend sound and visual features for an immersive experience, against a full soundtrack." Really makes us see not only the passion but also the solid design principles behind the game.
That's not even to mention the art which simply blows us away.

Hopefully you'll be as excited about the project as we at Gametrender are by now. Go on over to Kickstarter and learn more about this amazing Pretty Weird Project. How to use Android and iOS to transform Traditional Business

We've written on a lot of business specific apps, both for Android and iOS. Now what we're starting to notice is a definite sway towards normal, traditional businesses using business apps to change the way they go about their day to day activities.

A prime example is many retail suppliers, such as barcode scanner businesses and cash register suppliers. As we all know one of the easiest AR apps to make is a simple barcode scanner that uses a phones camera (of any megapixel size) to scan barcodes in order to conduct price comparison via a linked website.

In the face of these AR apps stealing their traditional customers it's a case of adapt or die for some physical business types. That's why Kudos go out to the company that provides POS system , instead of fighting against the Smartphone revolution they have embraced it and now use custom apps in conjunction with their point of sale equipment.

That's today's Smartphone business lesson: Don't fight against apps stealing your customers-use them yourselves to increase your marketbase. In the fast moving business apps world you can't afford to be conservative but have to embrace these new technologies to stay current. At the moment apps are the hottest thing in the tech world-embrace and expand.

Finding the best Android Docks and Speakers

The ultimate Android Speaker Dock?
If you're an audiophile you've probably sourced the best music docks and speakers for your iPhone already. There's a plethora of good sound gadgets, even up to and including top end amplifiers, for iPhones. If you're an Android owner things seemingly aren't as easy.

While considering to buy the latest (or at least supposedly greatest) Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3 ,I went off on a web search to find the best docks and speakers for Androids. All the top sites, such as Ebay and Amazon, are quick to come up with search results .Unfortunately many of those results aren't geared toward Android friendly docks but to the iPhone.

Now it's understandable that the iPhone, with it's heritage of being simply a telephone capable iPod has music in it's genes, so naturally you would expect to find many ways to plug in your phone and make music. However , the fact that it is so difficult to find dedicated speakers and docks for even prestige Android phones is shocking.
We've taken a lot of the leg work out of your search for Android's music accessories and have tried to parse down the search results to find what you may be looking for:

Neuros has brought out what supposedly is the first Android music dock for a wide variety of phones. Available from ThinkGeek, the dock will charge and play music from most new Android phones. Any web search for Digital Innovations Universal Speaker Dock should show you the best pricing.
Rumoured to be the first universal Android Speaker Dock
The Philips website is worth exploring as they're getting into the Android music scene in a big way, the Philips AS531 Speaker is one of the most popular Philips speaker docks for Android. The AS 851 also has some good reviews.

For Motorola Android phones it is recommended to try the Atrix standard dock with attached amplified speakers.

The Sonos S5 is a truly universal piece of kit providing music streaming from both iOS and Android devices

Finally another good brand name dock is the Creative D100 , it works via bluetooth, so the disadvantage is that you won't be able to charge your mobile off this speaker/amplifier setup

Now if you're a really serious musician and want the absolute best, booming and loudest sound system out there you're going to have to consider buying an amplifier:
Why aren't there many Music Docks for Android?

For an Android dock to be considered 'universal'  it needs to have a micro-USB switch that can be placed in different configurations,  a small 3.5mm headphone connector would be needed too. The micro-usb could be setup to match your phone whether that be a Motorola, an HTC, SOny or any other Android phone, you would have to connect the 3.5mm plug into the headphone socket.

Sluggo: iPad Arcade Gaming at it's best

Sluggo: Funaddictive iPad game.
If you're any sort of mobile gamer then you probably remember Nokia's "Snake" of previous gaming generations. Sluggo is what Snake would be if it grew up, blasted off into outer space and decided to become a giant inter-stellar planet munching worm.

Naturally Sluggo reminds us of Snake, with similar gameplay,  but rehashed and remixed for 2012 to make not only an altogether different game (albeit with Snake roots) but an arcade game that just feels right for the iPad.

Your interstellar worm gradually devours planets of ascending size, collects the odd powerup and avoids the Sun. Collision with the Sun or a planet too big for Sluggo's belly results in a loss of size, until eventually the Game Over screen looms.

Music and graphics add to Sluggo's playability
The graphics are bright and simple , giving a very crisp feel to the game and the soundtrack works very well with the music setting a good pace. Toucharcade forums are ablaze with praise for Sluggo as it is a simple premise that mixes some great design elements together to make a playable and addictive game.

Further updates to the game could add some new elements to the game to increase its longevity, but as an addictive Indie arcade game the app certainly deserves your iPad screen time.

Funniest App Ever - One Epic Game

One Epic Game - OEG
If you are looking for an epic game for your handheld phone (android gaming device) then this one is for you. It says it in the games name. The character images in the cutscenes are drawn out with comic quality (that's a good thing). Most of the jokes are for gamers and movie watchers to understand. The way the conversations happen reminds me of Paper Mario, Metal Gear Solids (Praying Mantis), Deathpool in Ultimate Alliance 2, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (the game and movie) for reasons I decided not to state. No Spoilers will be provided except that this is an action comedy app and it's FREE. For those of you who do not care about finding things out early. Topics of Spoilers are in the  tags or labels section. The Tutorial is hilarious and has unexpected explanations. OEG contains humor.

Although the title of the game may seem a bit overconfident at first for making such a big claim, it lives up to it. One Epic Game is a platform shooter. The gameplay itself may not be epic, but the dialogue, story or cutscenes certainly are. Story mode is where the fun and jokes are at. Similar to Big Bang Theory, sci-fi references are made that not everyone will understand, but for those that do, it is fun to see. The HUD is easy to read. Health and meters ran in the level are displayed on top. On your smartphone the app will be listed as OEG and not the whole name will be displayed. Soundtracks are well produced and rocks. One of  orchestrated and choir soundtrack reminds me of the theme of Sephiroth of Final Fantasy vii (An Epic Character). The music keeps playing while after you die, so there isn't an awkward sudden stop in the music or sounds. Menu's are easy to navigate and has sounds (feels more complete).

Fight dragons, knights, aliens, robots, machines, zombies, and probably a lot more. Use rocket launchers, lasers, flamethrowers, shotguns, machine guns and more to help you. Use jetpacks to jump and fly farther over a limited distance easier. Buy temporary upgrades before each level to use them. A unique feature of this game is that you may jump on the enemies like Mario to destroy enemies. The Freeness of the app comes with ads only during the quick loading after a selection of starting a level (cutscene). Cutscenes may be skipped and do not repeat on "retry".The game gets harder increasingly fast (the distance required to travel is increased). Upon retrying, I discovered that there are either multiple levels of the same level, or enemies are randomly regenerated or something because the levels are the exactly the same when you restart.

One Epic Game is brought to you by the developer(s) at Grip Games.  Don't miss out. It's on Google Play with an average rating of 4.4/5 out of 400+ user reviews. The games icon on the left is bright and colorful.

Exciting iOS Games previewed at E3 2012

E3 2012 iOS Games
So the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has ,as usual, got the game industry all excited. But how much have iOS games featured in E3 2012 and what games have got the iPad/iPhone games have got the press talking?

E3 itself has changed fundamentally in recent years, it's downscaling from the gaming jamboree of recent years has been economically driven, and we believe that the gaming industry itself reflects this. AAA title are not nearly as thick on the ground as they once were due to gaming studios budget constraints. However into this economic vortex, Mobile app gaming with it's fast turnaround and lesser budgets should fit quite nicely. So, has E3 2012 shown the rise of the App as videogamings messiah?

Well firstly type in a Google Search for E3 apps and you're not met with an onslaught of Gaming Blockbuster Apps, but just a multitude of links to E3 Exhibition apps, very yawnworthy and not what we're looking for.

Going on to larger gaming websites and we start to see a few names mentioned time and again for apps that have seemed to have made an impression on journos. At this stage of our research games to watch in the future seem to be:

E3 2012 iOS games
Demon's Score by Square Enix

  • Demons' Score-A Rhythm Game/FPS fusion from Square Enix
  • Final Fantasy Dimensions-Coming July
  • Opertoon-Which reminds me of Osmos, which can't be a bad thing surely.
  • Duel of Fate and Soccer Superstar 2012 are the big and comers from Gamevil
  • Magic the Gathering : Duels of the Planewalkers looks to be a heavily produced and much hyped MtG game seeong the light of day in 2012

That's the most mentioned iOS games that we've been able to track down, but it also bodes well that we've been able to locate a lot of info on Indie games from this years E3 2012

What Indie iOS Games featured in E3 2012?
The Indiecade Developers had a strong iPad showing at this year's expo, as you would expect there are some cunning and interesting iPad games emerging from the minds of these independent creatives. Here's our pick of Indiecades E3 2012 showing:
Full List of Indiecade Games E3 2012

Who's your Bubba?

YouBubbs-ading sparkle to memorable
Words
Coming across as a really funky way to add comments to your pictures via an Android app is the very slickly designed "YouBubbs". It's a simple idea and really easy to execute, with the idea being that you can share what's being said (via Twitter, Facebook and other means) by adding a speech bubble to your "Bubba" .
A Bubba being the very appealing avatars found in the YouBubbs app. Or you could just be boring and use any picture from your Gallery.
The Bubbas themselves are designed by talented artist Rajendra Yadav and are intended to be Fun and whimsical. They include Grandpa Bubba, Sally Bubba and my favourite Godfather Bubba.
Princess Bubba-One of the many
Bubbas to help you express yourself
YouBubbs is a delightful way to share Instantly captured, had to be there quotes, from friends and family. We've all had the "Do you remember when X said..." moments in our life.
Now with this quote sharing Android app(and on the Appstore too!) you can always relive that moment in a very cool and appealing way.

Apps to make everyday activities fun

On the surface of it, you would look at some apps and think "What's the point of that?" However some apps aren't really sold on their description but on how very brilliantly they do things.

iDrate: Fun and intuitive Hydartion
Monitor App
Idrate hydration monitor is one of those cool apps not really sold by their description. If I offered an app to you that would monitor your water intake then you would probably not be very excited. If you used Idrate then it would be a different story though, as the hydration monitor app turns the mundane and everyday task of drinking water into a fun and interactive game.

Even the word "game" sells it short though as it is designed around a very intuitive and adult interface and really has a serious health message accessed through the form of the app. A quick tap here and there on the app and fluid intake is measured, and reminders to drink given if necessary, on a fun avatar filled screen who fills up like some kind of person shaped bar chart as you drink.

There are even in app awards to earn for good hydration. We particularly like the screen where your fluid intake is chosen with a scaling bottle that scales up or down as your water amount is chosen. It was great fun just playing on this screen.
Water is the most essential substance for life so give the free hydration monitor Idrate a go, it really will make this important task fun.

Project Slugger is a video game project coming out of Baltimore and seeking Kickstarter Funding. Our relationship with the dev team behind Slugger goes back a short while with a Gametrender article originally announcing the concept game a few months ago.
Pretty Weird has now entered the funding stage of what looks to be an exciting game coming out initially on Xbox and Pc .
The games concept art has always stood out and looks even more appealing now in these later stages. As and when more info comes to light we'll be posting on reasons to support this exciting and indie Kickstarter project.

The interactive game book and app will be released concurrently and in the latest Blood of the Zombies news the cover has just been revealed, pop on over to our sister site virtualfantasies.blogspot for more In depth coverage of the cover reveal, as we'll keep you up to date with all the happenings with Ian Livingstone's app in the coming months.

Find out if Medical Apps actually work!

We've covered a surprising amount of Medical apps on Gametrender in recent months. Now the problem is that even though these apps for health have been created with good intentions, or so we hope, there is no vetting procedure to authenticate medical apps. A real Doctor will ,after years of Med School, be authorised to practice by a board of medical peers and sweat the Hippocratic Oath. For an app that supposedly will help prevent or diagnose illness there is no such authentication. At the very least we recommend going to an authorised medical review site to have your medical app checked out before undergoing treatment or taking medicine at an apps advice. This site seems to be quite genuine and quick to reply with general medical enquiries and will be open to approving medical apps if you request a review: ambien reviews

Is Gaikai better than Onlive

We first tried Gaikai on Facebook a few days ago,and were pleasantly surprised at the game streamers fluidity. So much so that we not only wrote an article about Gaikai but set off to find out from the company itself what Gaikai's future plans for IPad and iPhone compatibility are. We have managed to track down Gaikai's PR company who have supplied us this handy guide to exactly what Gaikai is. This game industry press release shoud also help users to decide whether to use Gaikai or OnLive for gaming. We will also be doing a follow up article with more in depth and specific questions soon, so if you have anything you want to find out about the new gaming portal then please add your question in the article comments and we will forward it on to the PR team. so let's answer your burning question: What is Gaikai and what can it do? Oh and lets not forget the all important, is Gaikai free to use?!

What is Gaikai and how do you use it?

Gaikai has spent the past three years designing and building the fastest interactive cloud network in the world, instantly capable of delivering cutting-edge games without the need for any extra custom hardware or software. Coupled with relationships with the top video game and development partners around the world, Gaikai is capable of delivering a broad catalog of the world’s most exciting games straight to consumers across the web, including social networks like Facebook, YouTube or on any Internet-connected device, including televisions, set-top boxes and tablets and mobile devices.   Gaikai is a cloud gaming company. They work with business like LG, Samsung, more than 40 publishers like EA, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. They provide these companies with cloud space to stream video games to TV, computers, tablets, mobile devices, etc. For instance, with LG and Samsung, Gaikai is their preferred cloud gaming service. Gaikai enables both LG and Samsung to create their own gaming service using Gaikai. LG and Samsung work with publishers to create pricing, and secure games for their own video game service. Samsung and LG along with publishers will decide which games to feature. Gaikai is the sevice that allows Samsung or LG or EA or Wal-Mart to actually provide streaming games. Does that make sense.   So, Gaikai isn’t retailer like OnLive. Gaikai doesn’t sell games. They do not market games. They provide platforms such as LG or Samsung or EA with the ability to stream video games from the cloud. The goal of Gaikai is to lower the barrier for people to play video games. Right now, you have to have a high end PC/MAC, or own a console. Gaikai enables companies to bring games to people with the least amount of friction through streaming. For PC, if you can watch a Netflix film, you can definitely stream Mass Effect 3. With platforms such as LG and Samsung, you will be able to play full games with saves via Gaikai. Gaikai is the service that enables companies to stream their video games. How does Gaikai work is a question best left to the software engineers, but in the forthcoming interview we will attempt to find out what new games are coming to Gaikai? A lot of rumours still abound as to whether the PS Vita games will work on Gaikai. We'll try to put all rumours and speculation about the cloud gaming platform to bed with our follow up interview.

Initial Thoughts on Buying a Samsung Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been much written about,so is it really the best mobile phone to buy as of June 2012? Now I'm currently using an Xperia Play , as regular readers will know, and love the open source ability of Android. however at the same time I use my iPad for a lot of business, and indeed am writing this article on the Apple Device. So I don't have a favourite either way and both os's have their own advantages. But to research this article I've gone off to research the Galaxy S3 for my partner who currently owns an HTC Desire. Her reasons for wanting to upgrade to an IPhone 4S are typically emotionally driven with the fact that many of her friends have the Iphone and that she initially thought that you couldn't get Music docks for Android Phones! A fair point about music docks, because despite the fact that Android is far outselling the iPhone the accessories for Apple products still seem to be a lot more prolific and sexier than Android speakers and other accessories . Even for a phone as eye turning as the Galaxy S3. I'm not going to banter about the amazing specs or features of the Android marvel as many other websites have already done so. But what I will say as an individual both trying to convince a significant other to stick with the Android flagship rather than get an IPhone, and equally to decide for myself whether to get the Galaxy S3. Is that the phone will do absolutely everything and more that you ask and expect of it, but the large screen size , while for many a plus point might still deter some people. Mobile phone contracts to consider for the Samsung Galaxy S 3 from Vodafone , generally indicate that buying the mobile outright will save you money in the long run , but your data package will, at the moment ,be smaller than the typical 40 pound plus contract that you would expect to pay on a 24 month Vodafone contract for the S3 handset coming free. The contract that my partner has will expire in just over a month, closer to the time when and if she gets the Samsung Galaxy S3 I will update this article to reflect on the pros and cons of the phone from a consumer viewpoint. To look at the other types of mobile contracts available for Europe and the Uk at the moment we recommend looking at our new partners website at Handytarife Vergleich
